South African Embassy
Jair Lynch served as the development manager for the predevelopment phase of a substantial renovation and addition to the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa located in Washington, DC. The project involved a complex renovation and conversion of the existing Chancery and Official Ambassadors Residence buildings to consolidate existing ceremonial and State functions under a single roof. The renovation also included the replacement of building systems, installation of a new sprinkler system and compliance with ADA standards. The combined renovation and addition comprised approximately 51,000 square feet. Davis Brody Bond Aedas designed the project in such a way as to preserve the historic character of the existing building while suggesting a new era for South Africa with its modern addition.
