JAIR LYNCH partnered with EYA and Trammell Crow Companies to create Vision McMillan Partners, the master development entity for the 25-acre former McMillan Sand Filtration Site at North Capitol Street and Michigan Avenue, NW, two major local thoroughfares. Its strategic location—between Howard University and Washington Hospital Center—provides a strong potential market for the envisioned mixed-use project, which will include residential, retail, medical office, hotel and neighborhood park space. The historic sand filtration silos are to be preserved where appropriate and incorporated into a unique plan that honors the site's history.
The McMillan Sand Filtration Site is part of a chain of public green spaces established in a turn-of-the-century plan for beautifying Washington and was designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. In 1991, the entire site was designated a historic landmark by the DC Historic Preservation Review Board.
