Georgia Commons

PROJECT DETAILS:

Location: 3910 Georgia Ave NW
Type: Residential
Target Area: Upper Northwest
Cost: $35 million
Size: 125,000 SF

Georgia Commons is a planned mixed-use community with 130 units of mixed-income rental housing located above a new, state-of-the-art 28,000 square foot neighborhood health center for Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care. The residential financing was provided by the DC Housing Finance Agency and included the first Private Activity Bond to close in the first three quarters of 2009. Financing for Mary’s Center was provided by the DC Primary Care Association as part of its Medical Homes DC Initiative, a public-private partnership with the DC Department of Health. Georgia Commons is located one block north of the Georgia Ave-Petworth Metro station in an emerging, transit-oriented neighborhood. The project has been pre-certified Gold under the LEED® for Neighborhood Development Pilot Program. The project, which JAIR LYNCH is developing as part of a joint venture with AHD, Inc., will be complete and start occupancy early 2011.

What's nearby?

JAIR LYNCH recognized the tremendous growth potential of Upper Northwest DC and began its work in the area with neighborhood-serving recreation centers like Emery Park and Takoma Aquatic Center, which houses the only Olympic-sized public pool in DC. JAIR LYNCH also delivered the Lamond Recreation Center, which became the first LEEDŽ Silver certified public building in the District of Columbia.

What is the soul of a place? The spaces between buildings, the rituals and commemorations, and the richness of the social infrastructure.
